Bill Butler Group Managing Director

As Managing Director, I am passionate about the Hemming Group, our people, and our products. I began my working life at the Church Commissioners, and after two years, I made a bold career move to join the world of B2B publishing.

James Cook Group Finance Director

I’m a commercially focussed Finance Director with extensive statutory and management accounting experience gained in both SME’s and large corporates. My track record of enabling change and facilitating growth has helped underpin the strategy of organisations I have been a part of.

Sophie Service Director of Strategy, Culture and Environment

I lead on strategy and culture and on our sustainability project, Get Zero! and I have been a main board member since 2002. However, I started my life at Hemming Group running the Facilities team. Then took an MBA in 2000 and as a result I have been increasingly involved in the strategic direction and culture of the Group.

Mike Burton Editorial Director

I have been commenting on local government and the public sector for over 30 years. I trained as a journalist on local papers and later joined the Hemming Group on The MJ (Municipal Journal), the weekly title for local authority executives, as editor for many years before becoming editorial director and joint sector head for our public sector business. I have also written three books on politics.

Matthew Hobley Head of Content Delivery

A newspaper journalist by training and former editor and publisher of Hemming magazine brands, I have launched a number of digital products, working closely with digital professionals to develop the business's online portfolio.
